Phoenix NeuroStim Therapeutics

Phoenix Technologies’ medical device is the first therapeutic intervention that has been clinically proven to restore the sense of touch for the fifty percent of diabetics who suffer from peripheral neuropathy, a progressive loss of sensation in the extremities. Without the ability to feel the bottom of their feet, small abrasions often go undetected and, without proper care, turn into larger, more seriously infected wounds known as foot ulcers. Over the course of their disease, one-quarter of all diabetics will ulcerate incurring treatment costs that can exceed $40,000 per patient when secondary ulcers and subsequent lower limb amputations are taken into account. Foot ulcers are now the third most costly complication of diabetes, accounting for 6-7% of all disease-related healthcare expenditures.
